Mark Coyne Memorial Scholarship

A Wisconsin native, Mark earned his nursing degrees in Miami Florida where he began his nursing career. He returned to Madison in 1981, and worked as a staff nurse at UW Hospitals & Clinics. Mark began his teaching career as an Emergency Medical Services instructor at Madison College in January 1986. In June of that year, he was recruited to the UW Med Flight program where he worked as a nurse for 22 years. He passed away May 11, 2008 as the result of a UW Med flight accident. Family and friends have contributed memorial gifts to continue Mark’s legacy of teaching and learning. His motto was “Education is like a candle…you lose nothing by lighting another candle.”

This scholarship is available to full-time continuing Madison College students who have completed the EMT-Basic program and are currently enrolled in an emergency medical services related (EMT, EMS or Paramedic) program. Donor/Thank You Letter: Ann Coyne
